It may take so reading, but what you want to know is there.If you want to allow access from outside the firewall, you need to make entries in the 'external services' section. Only what you allow there will be allowed in.Say you run a web-server, to allow port 80 traffic to your server, in the 'external services' section, leave the source IP blank, this will allow acces from everyone on the outside. Enter 80 in the port section.To forward that port to your web-server, go to 'port forwarding'. 'source port' is the port you opened in 'external services', 'destination IP' is the IP of your web-server.

'destination IP' is the port you have open on your web-server for accepting http request.THe 'help' button, on any of the admin panels, will give simple instructions for that section.I've been using SmoothWall for about 3 weeks now, and find it works well for my needs. The only thing I wish it could do is specifically block certain ports. But other than that, it works great.Marc.
