Borean Tundra Or Howling Fjord
Noticed on IGN last week 3 videos in the Wrath of the Lich King section which featured them going around the zones looking at things. In the Borean Tundra it showed a boat coming up to a small Alliance town on the coast and a zeppelin pulling into Warsong Hold. Course for some reason both those videos have since been removed from IGN for a few days now. Borean Tundra - 68-72 Howling Fjord - 68-72 Dragonblight - 71-74 Grizzly Hills - 73-75 Zul'Drak - 74-77 Sholazar Basin - 75-78 The Storm Peaks - 76-80 Icecrown - 77-80 Wintergrasp - 77-80 PvP Zone, requires flying mount 9 zones, which by my count is 2 more than TBC. Answer Wiki., Active player of World of Warcraft since open beta. 'The Kraken' sails from Stormwind Harbour in the northwestern corner of Stormwind to Valiance Keep on the southeastern shore of the Borean Tundra. Or, for a more scenic route, there you can go to Kamagua, a Tuskarr villiage on the southern shore of the Howling Fjord.
Many players are asking themselves this simple question: When Wrath of the Lich King is released, where should I go level first, Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord?Blizzard has stated many times that both zones would be viable for the Horde and the Alliance, and that ultimately, it doesn't matter which of the two you choose. However, this is not entirely true, there are slight differences between the two zones and they do matter a little, if your concern is to level up as fast a possible. Horde quests: 52Alliance quests: 77Both: 66As you can see, the situation is reversed here. Alliance has the quest advantage AND the position advantage in Howling Fjord.Other observations. I've done Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord with both Alliance and Horde characters, and I can say that there are other advantages which confirm the above. The Horde quest hubs and quest chains feel more fluid, more well-connected together in the Borean Tundra.
Borean Tundra To Howling Fjord Travel
The opposite is also true for the Alliance in Howling Fjord. I don't know if this was intended by Blizzard, but it's just how it is. The transition to the next zone also feels more fluid in Borean Tundra for the Horde, and the same is also true for the Alliance in Howling Fjord. Borean Tundra has more quests overall, and that's of course an advantage. However, the zone is bigger and thus there's more time spent riding than in Howling Fjord. Howling Fjord is completed faster and allows you to move on to the next zone (probably less crowded) quicker.ConclusionIf you are Horde, start in Borean Tundra. If you are Alliance, start in Howling Fjord. My will follow this choice as well. However, don't worry, I will also write a guide for Borean Tundra for the Alliance and a Howling Fjord guide for the Horde in the future.
This is for people who don't want to miss any zone and want to do as many quests as possible for more reputation, gold, lore and of course, more achievements!Of course, if everyone followed my advice, it would be a disaster, Horde quest locations in Borean Tundra would be way too crowded, and the same would be true for the Alliance in Howling Fjord. However, luckily for you, a large part of the WoW population still doesn't know about this blog and/or doesn't follow my guides, so just follow my advice and you'll have an edge in Wrath of the Lich King:). October 10, 2008 at 2:43 PMJame, Firstly, love your work. I'm a seasoned player of WoW from launch, yet I always find some new perspectives or techniques from your guides. You also are one of the few who attempt guide writing in a professional manner, so in the way of Colbert, a tip of the hat to you good sir!:P I have a question for you (not sure where else to post this request), that is to do with Death Knights. I don't believe you have answered this issue before. From reading around, I have come to understand it that duel wielding is only really used by frost-speced tanking Death Knights, due to the fact that 1h weapons are best suited for tanking stats and fast weapon speed for threat.
DPS speced (Blood or Unholy) seem to favour 2h weapons. Would you be able to do an analysis of DW vs 2H, prehaps down the road, to see if DW replaces 2H for dps? What about tanking?
I also know there is a lack of itemisation with 2H tanking weapons. Thanks again Jame, keep up the great work.
Comentario de TehbanthaThe Howling Fjord sits high above the Great Sea on the southeastern tip of Northrend. It is said that in ancient times the vrykul, a race of half-giant warriors, inhabited the land, founding a vast and prosperous civilization. Then one day, without warning or explanation, the vrykul vanished, leaving behind only deserted villages and abandoned temples. Now the Alliance and Horde have come to confront the malefic Lich King and put an end to the Scourge.
The Alliance has established a staging area in the settlement of Valgarde, but their presence seems to have sparked off an unforeseen event: the return of the vrykul. These formidable warriors have begun attacking Horde and Alliance settlements, and many of the vrykul are pouring out of the fortress of Utgarde Keep, not far from Valgarde. The vrykul's motives and their whereabouts for the past several thousand years remain a mystery. Regardless, there is no doubt that the vrykul's sudden resurgence has touched off an ongoing battle for control of the region.Dwarven prospectors, in the meantime, have uncovered mysterious relatives whose skin is etched in strange runes. These iron dwarves may provide the missing link needed for the dwarves to piece together the mystery of their creation. On the eastern shore, the Forsaken have arrived, carrying a plague of their own to unleash upon the Lich King. Queen Sylvanas has been methodically and patiently overseeing the formulation of this contagion for several years, and the time has come at last to test its effectiveness against the Scourge. Before bringing the battle to the Lich King, both the Horde and Alliance must overcome the immediate threat of the vrykul and answer the questions that the warriors’ reemergence has posed. Where have the vrykul been? What do they want?
Most disturbing of all, what if they aligned with the Lich King?Perhaps only time will tell. For now, the battle has just begun.Source. Comentario de ChopleyTurnipHowling Fjord is a lovely looking zone, but for Horde it's a bit of a pig to quest in. Alliance get far better chains and quest rewards along with better stories, the Horde quest lines just seem to fizzle out and never really go anywhere exciting, the rewards are generally poor too.Whichever faction you're playing as, I'd recommend questing out Borean Tundra thoroughly first, so that you're 71/72 by the time you get to the Fjord. Comentario de GullwingsDon't like the Gnome's flying machine trip around.everywhere? Well, you're in luck!
Just across Daggercap Bay is a trail that leads ALL the way up the cliffside to the dwarves that give you the 'Iron Man' quest chain. If you stand on the dock and look slighty left of the big opening in the cliff where the boat goes, there is a lamp marking the start of the trail. Please note: Be very careful going up and even more careful going down. Lots of sharp corners that take you straight down to Splatterdead Country.
Comentario de SystexOne of the most beautiful and relaxing zones in the game. Oh wait, I'm wrong here.It is the most beautiful and most relaxing zone in the game! Seriously, I love this place, I love the quests, I love the music, I even love the penguins sitting on the ice all day long. This place also reminds me of Norse mythology, really awesome zone.If you're new to the game I would prefer to level in the Borean Tundra, cause the quests are much easier and it's not as big and confusing as the Howling Fjord.
Comentario de mark211175I would like to share a fun minigame you can start up with your guildmembers. It is a somekind of dangerous game for all you dare devils amongst us. Location is here at Howling Fjord, exact point at the ancient lift. You know the lift up there and probably can guess what i have in mind.
Boat To Howling Fjord
The silly game is to run over the rope from ancient lift to Kamagua as fast as you can. When you stand on the rope, it seems quiet easy, but there are a view traps on it. When you take your time you will make it easy. But as we gonna race it. You will find out the camara view of point changes all te time and also you have to jump sometimes over the obstacles. Ah and then there is the lift that keeps up running over you.
It wont hurt you, but still it can be very enoying. But there is offcourse one fatal mistake that you can make and that is falling of the rope way down to the sea or worse to the ground. To make this more dangerous, i would say put the path of frost on with one of your death knights in raid or party, so that falling savely down in the sea is no option. Fun for the guild when you would like to have a silly time together bonding your guild.hint: Do this when you all are drunk, garanteed lot of fun;). Comentario de Thaldrani dont know if this is true cuz i dont wanna look it up, but it seems that all archaeology zones in the howling fjord is only for the Vrykuland of coursewhich counts for 12so this is the best place to farm forVrykul Drinking HornThis item Costs 100 sthis item equips you with a Vrykul helmet and makes you larger.Stacks with Mr. Smite's Brass Compass.which also makes you larger, and a tauren.if you use these 2 items together your mounts get insanely huge.for some reason i cant get these links to work.
